Hike to Alberta Falls

On Labor Day we went up to Estes Park and then went into Rocky National Mountain Park and did a little hike to Alberta Fall. We had a great time and the hike is perfect for families.

All along the way they have these big boulders that kids loved to climb on. This, I think, is the biggest one.
This little squirrel actually ran and jumped into Emerson's hand and then ran away. It did it so fast I missed it, but here is the shot just before the squirrel jumped.
Here is my little man Weston, who is a little close to the edge for my comfort. Just on the other side of that rock he is sitting on is a drop off.

Emerson was so excited to go to school today. She woke up extra early today just to make sure she was not late.
Here is our little 4th grader on her way to school.
One of Emerson's good friends Vanessa is in her class again....yay. (The sun was a little bright this morning.)
Emerson's Teacher this year is Mrs.Cole she seem really nice and Emerson came home really happy today. I already like her because she sent out an email to all the parents this afternoon talking all about there first day and sent this picture along.

The kids had so much fun making poster and decorating for Peter today. Emerson came in the room and said "Dad and Mom you need to come down stairs" we got up and started to head down stairs and the kids jumped out of the front closet "Surprise, Happy Fathers day". They had almost decorated every wall in the house with pictures they had made. It was so cute.

I wish I had pictures of the Other two amazing Dad's in my life but they are still not uploaded on our new computer yet. I just want say HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to Darrel (Kimberley's dad) and to Dave (Peter's dad). Thanks for being so darn amazing and we love you both so much.

On Monday Weston went peepee in the potty......yay!!! He got to choose a prize from the the prize bucket, can you guess what he chose?? Yes, it was Silly Puddy, and he absolutely loved it. At bed time I put it up and he brushed his teeth and went to bed, all was good.....ummmmm not really. That little monkey shiner climbed his shelf and got it, and here I thought he was all tucked in sleeping like a good little boy. When he woke up this was the back of his head......aaaaaaaaaaaaa. It was all over his pillow, jammies and yes his hair. Well I guess it was a good thing he already had a mowhawk!!

Tornado right in Our Backyard!

What a crazy day! It started out as any normal Sunday.....rushing around, running late and trying to get to church on time. We were sitting in Church and Avery, the little stinker, was acting up and bugging her brother. So Peter took her out and when they came back in Peter said "it is looking very nasty out side". Then a 10 minutes later it started to hail so hard that we could hardly hear the closing prayer. After sacrament was over I was chatting with a friend when Peter came in and said there was a tornado. We ran outside and saw the tail end of it, I could not believe how close it looked. We had no idea if it had even touched down, little did we know it was right in our neighborhood.
I took this photo off of 9 News.com This tornado is pretty scary looking and it hit only a few blocks away from our house.Here are what the clouds looked like after we got home. We decided to drive around and see the damage and if our neighbors were all right.

Here is a house where it looks like the roof and shingles started to lift off. For those that live here this house is just down Gunclub a bit past Southlands Mall.This poor Trampoline. This house is right next door to Dan and Jessica Mortenson's. I am pretty sure that this trampoline is not always in the front yard, if it was I am sure Jess would have something to say about that.
The Townhouses right across from the Lowe's had all the front windows broken, probably from the hail. We had between marble and golfball size hail.

And here is part of their poor fence. The other side of their fence was torn down too, I mean just that the winds were strong enough to do that....yikes! I am soooo sorry guys. Michael just give Peter a call when you are going to fix it.
We saw so many trampoline's that are just mangled like pretzels...so scary.
There are also quit a few garage doors that were damaged. I am still in shock that this was right at our back door.
This trailer was picked up and dropped right beside this families house. I can not believe how close that is.
You can see the garge doors here look like they were almost torn right off, and the windows are broken as well.
This Lowe's only opened,I think, 6 weeks ago. The parking lots was just demolished, the shopping carts were thrown as far as 4 blocks away.
When we drove past the Lowe's they had bobcats that were starting to clean up the parking lot. A lot of there sheds were torn apart and scattered all over the place.
This is one of those backyard play-sets. We saw tons of those tossed across yard or even in other peoples yards.
Here is one that was thrown over the fence and took out a few trees. I am so sad at how much damage was done to our community, Southland and the Lowe's.
This is probably an 80 ft tree that is over 100 yrs old. There were tons of trees that were taken right out of the ground roots and all or snapped off at the base from the strong tornado winds, it is a real heartbreak.
Here is Weston walking down the side walk where the tree landed, so you can really see how huge it is.

We are just so glad that there were no reported major injuries from the tornado. Southlands Mall had some major damage done, they had every entrance blocked off so we could not get in and see. They said that Monday some of the stores might be up and running later in the day.

We only had an few branches and screen's that were broken at our house, so we are counting our blessings.

On Tuesday Weston helped me make playdough and loved squeezing in the food coloring. Well I think he must have saw me put it away.
So yesterday I gave each of the kids bubbles to go in the back yard and play while I took a shower and got dressed. I got out of the shower and was on the phone with my sister when Avery came around the corner. She was covered in food coloring....I was starting to get really made because her nice clothes were just covered. Then I went down stairs and saw Weston and just had to start laughing. Here is Weston or should I say the HULK and Avery (I wish I got a shot of her in her clothes). I didn't even know what to do at this point.
So I threw them into the tub and scrubbed scrubbed scrubbed them with soap.....it still not coming of that great. So I ran down stairs and grabbed the vinegar ..... it did sting a little.....but hey, it helped a lot
How could you be mad at that little face.
After we got out of the tub the sides of Westons hair was still green..... So I decided it is summer and lets give him a MOWHAWK
So here is our little PUNK....he loves it and says he looks like a dinosaur.
You can kind of see that he still has food coloring on his face so I decided to stick them back in the tub for the 3rd time, when I stuck them back in the tub last night Weston was screaming...No my dinosaur....he was sad that his hair wasn't spiky anymore...so cute.

Yes Weston after 3 baths still has pink hands and arms and legs...at least his face is not to bad anymore. And little miss Avery's face looks like it is flush all the time right now...haha all's I can do is LAUGH

This was EXTREMELY hard for me to do. I loved Weston's curls and always had people complement them......but he decided he didn't want me to comb is hair anymore. For the past three weeks it has been a constant battle to comb his hair. He always had a big matt in the back and so I had to make a desicion...... SO HERE WE GO.....

This past Thursday and Friday were snow days for the kids. Avery and Weston were getting a little restless and the house was starting to fall apart. They had some energy to burn so I brought Westons bike in from the garage and told them to take turns riding around. They found a better way and it was so cute, plus it was much better then my idea. They did this for over a hour and just laughed and had a blast.

Avery had a field trip to the Nature and Science Museum on Monday. Emerson did not have school that day so she was able to come with us. The kids had a tone of fun, but I forgot my camera. Thank goodness for phone camera's, the only thing is the indoor pictures did not turn out that great.

For Labor Day Monday we went for a picnic and a hike. We went to Castlewood Canyon, which is so beautiful. It is only 30 min from our house and I can't believe we never new about it before. I am so glad that the Stock's and Toloczko's took us there. It was a beautiful day and we had such a great time.

Wow did summer ever fly by! August 18th was Emerson's first day of 3rd grade. I can't even believe that she is in 3rd grade! It was a crazy morning and so of course I forgot my camera. So I took it with me when we went to pick her up and took a few pictures of her and the kids at the school field.

August 21st was Avery's first day of Preschool. I took a few shots of her on the way to the school...oh my little girl looks so grown up, but also so little because her school bag is as big as she is...haha

The kids both love their teachers and are really enjoying it so far. My little cuties!

My Mom and Dad are so amazing! They came and watched our kids for a week so Peter and I could get away and have some alone time. I must say it was SO great. I am sure all you parents agree that it is needed every once in awhile. We went to Utah first and then Las Vegas. Our friends Tony and AnnJanne came and hooked up with us in Vegas.

We took a day trip to Waterton National Park. They have these fun bikes you can rent and ride around the town.....super fun!

Emerson and Hunter dressed up as pirates and road there bikes in the Canada Day parade. They won second place and got a $15 check each! ARRRRRR
We had a lot of fun at The Ridge boating. Me, Emerson and Haruka on the tube.
We went with Peter's family to Calaway Park and we all left with major sugar buzzes from cotton candy. GOOD TIMES!!
This was so cool! You hook it up to your garden hose and you had 2 water slides, 2 water guns and a wading pool......it was a blast for the kids.

So today I played around with Avery's hair a little bit, just trying to find something that works. I think this is it! She still looks like a girl and it hides some of the bald spots. Of couse 2 seconds after the pictures were taken her hair was a mess and it wasn't covering the bald spots anymore.

Yesterday Avery said to my sister "now I have to go in the boys bathroom". We laughed so hard...it was the cutest thing. She still is a little sad and has said a few times today that she misses her long hair. AVERY YOU KEEP ME ON MY TOES!

Early this morning I was getting ready to head out when Avery came around the corner. I looked at her for a second and then screamed. She started to cry and I started to cry, she had cut almost 3/4 of her hair. I finally stopped crying and cut the rest of her hair. I tryed to keep as much of it as I could. We are now off to go and get hats and headbands. Avery has asked me" when is my hair coming back, in 1 minute"? She also keeps saying" I want my hair back". Mommy does to Avery! My heart is broken......but you are still just as beautiful. Maybe in a few months I will be able to laugh about it.

Emerson wanted to get pampered for her birthday. So we took her and 3 friends to get a manicure and pedicure....they had a blast. One of her friends gave her a make-up kit for her birthday. Well 2 nights ago I was putting Emerson to bed. We were reading a book when all of a sudden I felt a HUGE sicky glob of something stuck in her hair. I looked and it was some sort of carmel candy. No matter what we tried we could not get it out, so we had to cut it.....5 inches. Poor Emerson was so upset, she has been trying to grow her hair down to her bum for awhile now. She asked me about 10 months ago if she could grow it that long and I said yes as long as you always let me brush it WITH OUT complaining. She is fine now and maybe she will keep it this lenght. I sure like it alot better, but what do I know I am just the MOM.

The other day as I was trying to get ready to head out, little miss Avery kept getting into my makeup. So I put it up out of reach and then went to change Weston. As I was changing him I realized it was just a little TOOOO quiet. I hurried and finished up so I could find Avery, but she was nowhere to be found. I was calling her name and finally I heard a little voice coming from out in the garage. I opened the door and there she was with my mascara in hand and beautiful eyebrows. After a little scolding and a lot of laughing I had to take some pictures. Boy, LIFE sure would be boring without my Avery.

Saturday Morning.......

What a fun day we had down at Southlands. They do the face painting for tips only and what a fantastic job they did. Good thing though because it only lasted about 10 minutes on Avery. All the way home in the car we were "Avery don't touch your face until we take your picture."

I saw this on my cousins blog and thought it would be fun to see who our kids look more alike. WELL....take a look and see what you think. Do you agree with the meter or ME?

This one really didn't suprise me at all. I have always thought Emerson was a good mixture of the two of us.

OK...I do not agree with this one at all. I have and I am sure everyone else has always said that Avery looks more like ME!

Same with this one! Weston is totally a little Peter, Don't you think so?

But the one thing I do agree with the meter on is that are kids are a pretty good mixture of Peter and I. I also think that our kids look alot like each other. You know the say "well you can tell they are a gomez". One day we were in Paradise bakery as a family eating some sandwiches when this lady kept looking at us. Finally she said " I am looking at three little kids but only one face" it was really kind of funny. But we do often get comments like that.

Avery has been getting really good at riding her bike this week. So Today we took off the handle that I hold to help and she just took off.

As you can see by her smile she thinks she is pretty awesome. She even rode that little bike all the way to the school to get Emerson. What a SUPER STAR!

Emerson brought home this green square with a letter attached to it. The teacher asked the parents to write one hope and one dream for your child for 2nd grade. Then we were to decorate it together. So my HOPE is that Emerson will develope a love for learning. My DREAM is that she will learn to be organized. Emerson almost forgets something at school everyday. Then I added an extra one for her to make some great friends. We had alot of fun and Emerson glued and helped with all the gromets. Ohhh ya and the ribbon was a must...special request from Emerson. SHE IS SO PROUD OF IT.

Avery has just been in heaven this year. She is now tall enough to go on all the rides.woohoo

Weston had a blast. This is him on the slide, he kept climbing up and just laughing.

Emerson was such a good big sister and put her arm around Avery on the roller coaster.

The girls had there faces painted. Avery wanted the butter fly (so sweet) and Emerson wanted to be a tiger (roarrrrr)

Oooohhh, What a blast. It was a great way to finish off the summer
